Pressure induced phase transitions and structural refinement studiesHaozhe Liu, Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory Pressure induced phase transition is one of the fundamental research fields in physics, chemistry, Earth science and material science. The recent technological development in high pressure techniques currently used at many universities and at the national synchrotron or neutron source facilities make the collection of high resolution high pressure scattering data relatively easy. In recent years, the research on high pressure structural refinements has dramatically improved our understanding of pressure induced phase transitions and their mechanisms. This session will highlight the progress on the high pressure structural refinement research and focus on all aspects of this important field including sample preparation and refinement procedures. Contributions on topics relevant to phase transition and structural refinement under high pressure are welcome. T. Palasyuk, M.
